ASTRAPí Black & White Water Buffalo Skelton Motorcycle Glove

"Astrapi" is a Greek word. In Greek, "αστραπή" (astrapi) means "lightning." It is used to describe the visible electrical discharge that occurs during a thunderstorm.

The Black Skeleton Astrapi, a blend of HANDCRAFTED ARTISTRY and ROBUST DURABILITY. Made from full grain Water Buffalo hide, this glove holds the promise of exceptional strength. The glove shapes to your hand, offering a CUSTOM-FIT COMFORT. It boasts a gold lightning bolt, meticulously hand-stitched with 40 pieces of buffalo leather, embodying the strength of astrapi (lightning in Greek). The index finger comes with a tech fabric for SMARTPHONE COMPAT

  • DURABLE-LASTING-STRONG= PREMIUM HAND PROTECTION: Made from full grain Water Buffalo, we do not stretch the hides or sand out impurities. This leaves the chaotically woven fiber structure of the leather intact, allowing it to maintain its outstanding strength.
  • COMFORT-DEXTERITY-USABILITY: Because we do not stretch these hides before we stitch them, the leather only stretches where it needs to, on your hand. What this means is that we have found a way to develop a glove that will become uniquely customizable to whomever is wearing it.
  • HAND CRAFTED-SHARP-VERSATILE-UNIQUE: 40 hand stitched pieces of buffalo leather were hand stitched on top of the Water Buffalo base to create this one-of-a-kind leather glove.
  • TECH FINGER-USABILITY-OPERATIONAL EFECTIVENSS: We added a piece of tech fabric to each index finger, so you don’t have to remove your gloves when answering calls, changing the radio station or flipping through apps on your phone.
  • WATER FRIENDLY: These gloves only get better when they are wet. They will mold to your hands faster and become an extension of your hands over time.
  • HIGH DEGREES OF TEAR, PUNCTURE AND ABRASION RESISTANCE: The tightly woven fiber structure found in Water Buffalo Hide combined with the natural oils acting like a glue create an a next level barrier protecting your hands from asphalt, rocks, sticks, nails, glass, hail, rain, snow, bugs, cement or any number of projectiles threatening one of your most important assets; your hands.

    Fingers

Too long of fingers. Had a lot of friends interested in them. They saw mine and how almost unwearable they are. No one is buying them.

Josh - I started this company to bring regard back to consumers. There is a chance you got a defective pair or one that just did not fit. I refunded your money and sent you two new pairs, the next two sizes down. Try getting themn wet, using them and they will mold to your hands over time. Please feel free to keep all three pairs for free. Give them to your friends as I believe they will love them as much as we do.

Contact me directly with any other issues. Everything can get worked out.

    Great besides length of fingers

They’re so amazing !! The way they fit sits snug on my hand however the finger part is just too long . I’ve gotten large motorcycle gloves for over ten years and these unfortunately fit perfect everywhere but the length of the finger . With that being said if I would’ve gotten a medium I doubt my hand would even go through as it’s a struggle to put these on already ..

    Misguided

After receiving my gloves was a little disappointed in the quality of your product. After closer inspection I found that what I believed to be an American made product was actually manufactured in Pakistan your advertising was very misleading nowhere was it said made in Pakistan I only found out after receiving the product itself.

Dennis – First, I want to thank you for bringing up this topic as it is as important to us as it is to you. I am a fourth generation Coloradan, born and raised in the suburbs of Denver. When I launched Maroon Bell in 2016, I was steadfast in my dream of walling ourselves off and exclusively working only in the US. As I walked down the path, I had to immediately make concessions. Whether it was a button or thread or a tiny pin, some of these things were made overseas. Still, my goal was to at least stitch them together here. What I found was a fool’s errand. The first batch of flannels were $150 each just to put together, then they destroyed 30% of them. Upon the re-order, 3 months before Christmas in 2017, the manufacturer disappeared with all our raw materials. At the point we were on the verge of bankruptcy. A weeks later I got a call from a gentleman in Southern California saying he had my materials and would handle the order. We had to pay again of course. This batch was almost destroyed, and this guy disappeared as well. What I found out after this was the economy was intentionally globalized after WWII. There was nobody in the US that could produce what we needed at a price that was anywhere reasonable and once we got over 500 pieces, they would outsource it to Mexico. Even then we tried again. At Christmas 2019 we found a Denver based manufacturer and decided to use old Rugby shirts in combination with new materials to make bags. We visited the site, designed with them, took pictures, they came to one of our festivals and I thought we had finally achieved our early goal. I was wrong. Into January they had not produced anything. After months of back and forth they also disappeared with all our money and materials. We did find a local seamstress to sew patches on hats, but the patches were bought from an American company who produced overseas. The base of the hat was from a US based company who produced overseas (none of that was advertised). After 8 years I still have not stopped trying. In the next month we will come out with a leather balm made in Washington state. All our consultants and marketing partners are US based as well. We have a warehouse in Madison, Alabama all staffed with American workers, and we do everything we can to support local non-profits. Because of this one organization, we are able to produce the best gloves and the best service in the world. This has brought millions of dollars into the US economy over an eight year period.

Having said all of that, I want to tell you about my friends in Pakistan. They are a mall family company, based in Sialkot (which is where 90% of the gloves in the world are produced). My contact was younger when we first met and taking over the family business. He had just gotten out of business school and was working so hard to build a life and take his families company to the next level. We have learned to work together despite language, cultural, time, geographic and political borders. We have had frustrating situations to work through like any partners but have done it with synergy. My wife is a public school teacher and a year ago we had the chance to set up a zoom call with my friends and her 3rd graders. They got to ask any questions they wanted then wrote an article about them. It is the first time either side had ever spoken to each other on a zoom call.

Two years ago, my friend in Pakistan told me, 'Jeremy, so many of our other clients are so mean and racist towards us. They don’t pay, they are mean and not honest. You are the first American we have ever worked with, and we cannot believe what we are seeing. Nothing we thought about America is true. You are honest, hardworking, thoughtful and a great partner, the best we have ever had. We never knew Americans were like this.'

The implications of that comment are vast. Sialkot is in the Punjab province, where the sentiment towards Americans is rusty to say the least. Now, because of our relationship, there are folks in that area, telling neighbors and friends that Americans are not what they believed us to be. They are kind, hardworking and trustworthy. This relationship is making the world a better place and it is allowing us to bring amazing products and service to a US market I believe has left consumers frustrated and losing.

We will never ignore America and our workers. We love it here and will do whatever we can to do our part in building the future as bright as our dreams can muster. I just think that strategy must include our neighbors and friends over the seas or mountains. Walling ourselves off from the world leaves us alone and frustrated. Skillfully integrating ourselves with other countries will leave us with a greater understanding, less fear and more friends.

Thanks for telling me how you feel because it is an important conversation. Contact me anytime and I am happy to set up a time to talk.
